finally made something for myself and not school related. I found a tutorial on YouTube from Angela Clayton it's called Ruffly Skirt Tutorial - With Horsehair Braid I really liked it so I wanted to make it. well I went to the city but no one knew what horsehair braid was so eventually I bought it on ebay.
I also went for a pink fabric a canvas cotton so quiet thick. The horsehair braid arrived in about 1 week I bought 18 metres of 50mm Horsehair braid, Crinoline – multiple colours I made the skirt in about 3 evenings and this is the result (better pictures are coming.)

We have a project on school wearable clothes, like solar panels on your shirt to charge your phone. accept we work with led lights first we need to know something about electricity. and make licht burn on a small piece of fabric.
but now we are working on a big project most people from our class are making a little led monster from vild but I wanted to make a skirt. I want I to be a bit futuristic so I'm using a oilcloth as base fabric and a canvas cotton for the waistband. I made a 1/2 circle skirt because that is less fabric than a whole circle skirt so also cheaper. here are some pictures of the shirt, there are no photos of the back because that's is embarrassing the zipper is put in so ugly because my sewing machine didn't like the thick oilcloth. Busy for the fashion show on our school because we only have till the XMas vacation to finish our pants, shirt and dress. So I will need to work hard. so today I made a beginning on my dress by making a pattern I mostly make patterns by draping fabric on a mannequin. starting in the front and pinning a cheap fabric to my mannequin and then pin it on with out any folds when there are coming folds I will put a pin there and that will be my pattern. After that I trace the patterns on pattern paper and added seam allowance. then I put it on a cheap fabric for a mockup to see if the pattern is right. well this was my second fit and the plastic bones in the front will not sit richt :( I also removed some space under my breasts because it didn't follow my body lines, I took almost 6 cm in from my waist line and about 2,5 cm from the top it was to wide. Here are some pictures I'm pretty happy with it accept that the boning isn't right. here are some photo's :) |
